Vets To Hire Program

The Vet To Hire Program is a great way to break into aviation as a whole.

Are you a veteran interested in applying your military skills and experience towards a career in aviation? Command your career and discover the opportunities within HAECO Americas. Our company culture values military service and has created programs specifically designed for veterans.

Transitioning from an armed forces lifestyle back into a civilian routine can be challenging. Here at HAECO Americas, former service members comprise nearly half of our work force and we pride ourselves on hiring and supporting veteran talent. This year, HAECO Americas earned the 2020 Military Friendly® Employer designation by Victory Media, with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community.

Our Vets to Hire program enables transitioning military aviation mechanics to work for HAECO through a veteran affiliated company and creates a pipeline to employment for aviation maintenance.  You will work up to 90 days with a veteran affiliated company and with successful work performance, you will be offered a direct position with HAECO. HAECO provides all required tools during this 90-day window and has a payroll deduction program to assist with personal tool purchases if hired direct.

Your duties may include:

  • Fabricate parts as required
  • Perform such typical maintenance operations as the removal and replacement of aircraft and powerplant components that require bolting, torquing, adjusting, rigging, and safety wiring to include powerplant, and flight control removal/installation.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, clean, service, modify, replace, and/or overhaul aircraft and aircraft systems using approved data to ensure airworthiness.
  • Follow all applicable specifications to accomplish a specific task.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Perform work within estimated hours.
  • Follow all safety procedures and specifications.
  • Execute all required paperwork in connection with assigned normal duties.
  • Use and operate ground support equipment, as applicable and if qualified, in a safe manner.
  • Work with Leads and Supervision to accomplish assignments with little or no rework.
  • Interface effectively with members of management, other departments, and co-workers.

Work Conditions

Through the Vets to Hire Program at HAECO, you will work in a hangar environment. Due to the nature of the work at HAECO, you should also expect to work on the aircraft in different types of climate conditions. You must be capable of lifting fifty (50) pounds and have a minimum visual acuity of 20/40 corrected. You must also be able to access all areas of the aircraft and use required safety equipment as necessary.
